For all those who are entered in the Schull triathlon and/or for all those who would just fancy a nice evening in Schull we are doing a training evening next Tuesday June 2 at 7pm from starting from Schull Pier.
All are welcome. If you want to come for the swim (followed by optional easygoing cycle and run) then just turn up at 7pm sharp at Schull Pier. If you wish to come only for the cycle then we should be heading at about 7:30 and if you just fancy the run then 8:00 should be time enough. We hope to go for a quick bite afterwards as well.
Organiser: Paul Tanner
A massive turnout from Kenmare weathered the wind, cold and hailstones in Valentia last weekend. A huge well done to all with some amazing results from seasoned triathletes (Paul, Robert, Ellen, Lisa, Colm) and a couple of first time finishers too (Paul & Margaret). As well as the individual results there was a lot of relay teams with strong Kenmare participants who I won’t even try and thank or congratulate here for fear of forgetting someone!
The full results and pictures from the event are available at: www.jakera.com/triathlon
In addition we have a couple of our own photos below with some lovely photos of Paul taking shortcuts around the swim and then coming out of the water with equal aplomb!
The “Blackwater Sprint Triathlon” is now open. The link to enter is http://www.activeglobal.com/Events/index.cfm?AC=EventDetails_V2&E=78139
Having completed this event last year, I can say that is an ideal event for people who are not so strong in the swimming area, as it is a downstream swim in the blackwater river and everyones swimming times were at least 4-6 mins faster for the 750 mtrs.
The cycle and the run are also flat so it makes for a great beginner event or for someone looking to get a fast time.
Date: Sunday 30th August
Time: 1200
Cost: € 40
Last year it filled quickly and I know that a few from kenmare were disssapointed at not getting in.
