Not so much of a swim really as a quick dip back to safety and warmth of mulled wine and mince pies.
Starts on 1 January at 11pm from the Pier in Kenmare.
Looking forward to welcoming you all there.
Triathlon – Don’t Do It!!
(Or do, and love every minute of it)
The weather is cold at the moment, very cold, so cold in fact that going running in anything less than two duvets and a hot water bottle would seem like madness to any normal person. To a member of Kenmare Triathlon Club however, this is perfect weather to put on a skimpy, figure-hugging lycra triathlon suit and go for a nice leisurely run. Something short, like 10 kilometres.
It’s a fact, if you are interested in getting involved in triathlon, you should first consider easier, more sensible activities, like lion taming, bear wrestling or knitting. If however, you think that swimming, cycling and running are all things that you like to do one after the other with not so much as a break for a cup of tea then you should come and have a chat with us.
Being a member of Kenmare Triathlon Club as much about having a laugh and getting to know people as it is about training and competing in events. We train together in a very relaxed way, we support each other and when a competition does come up we compete together, under the Kenmare colours, as a group of friends. Triathlon is really about what you want to get out of it, you can be as serious or as casual as you like.
Oh, and just so you know, you don’t have to wear the lycra suits. We like them because they accentuate our well defined, perfectly toned, muscular bodies. And our beer bellies.
To find out more, give Robert (086-2644917) or Paul (087-6993793) a call or email info@kenmaretri.com or come and have a talk with us at our information night on the 28th of January in the Kenmare Bay Hotel Brook Lane Hotel (note the change).

The club are after purchasing two Minoura Indoor Turbo Trainers. A Turbo trainer allows you to use your normal bike indoors away from the wind and the rain. Train and get fit while watching the TV! It’s the time of year for staying indoors and racking up the hours on the Turbo.
Whatever your view on them there’s no denying that Turbo trainers offer the chance to put the miles in within the comfort of your home when it can be hard to find the motivation to get out on the bike… Warm, comfortable training – perfect. It just hurts.
We’ve spent considerable money on each trainer and each are available to all members of the club.We will be organizing some training evenings with them as well.If you want to try one out please contact Robert on 086 2644917 or at robertwhyte@eircom.net.

There is a a Goal Christmas Day Mile event taking place in Faungorth’s 10-12 AM. Your support would be greatly appreciated in what will be a lovely Christmas morning event.
The club would like to thank Margaret, Robert, Ger, Dan and Paul who gave up their Sunday to Marshall at the Kenmare Historic Rally held last Sunday 6th Dec. Kenmare Tri has had assistance in the past from Killarney Motor Club and was delighted to return the favour. It was a cold long day and the club really appreciates the dedication of those that helped out.
Coming this weekend (5th/6th December) to Kenmare is the Historic Car Rally in what promises to be a great spectacle for car enthusiasts and general followers alike.
The Killarney Motor Club have helped us greatly throughout the year with the Little Bo Peep and we would now like to return the favour.
We are looking for five volunteers to marshal up at the Rally Headquarters at the Mart between 8 and 2 (or some of that time). If you would be willing to give a couple of hours it would be much appreciated. Please let us know by emailing info@kenmaretri.com or by texting Paul on 0876993793.
