Carrick-on-Suir Triathlon 2010 Now Open for Entries
CARRICK-ON-SUIR, 08.02.2010, 09.00. Carrick-on-Suir Triathlon club opened registration for the annual Carrick-on-Suir Triathlon to take place on Saturday the 17th of July 2010, which will take place in and around the town of Carrick-on-Suir, Co. Tipperary.
The Carrick-on-Suir Triathlon is one of the most established triathlons in the Irish racing calendar having first being held in 1994 and subsequently held every year since. The Triathlon has grown in popularity over the years and has become a favourite on the Triathlon Ireland calendar of events. The event not only attracts participants from the South East, but from all over the country and indeed further afield. The race is widely known for the professional organisation of the event by the Carrick-on-Suir club and also for the friendly welcome provided by the people of Carrick. Indeed Outsider magazine recently recommended Carrick-on-Suir Triathlon as the best Triathlon for newcomers to the sport due to the suitability of the course and the welcoming spirit of the locals. Race Director Garry McCarthy recently said “Carrick-on-Suir Triathlon club are delighted to launch the 2010 event which is built firmly on the successes of the past. By providing two race options on the day we are able to cater for both the newcomer and the experienced triathlete, giving everyone the opportunity of achieving their own goals. I would advise anyone considering participating in the event to sign up sooner rather than later as the event fills very quickly each year and we are looking forward to another very successful race in 2010.”
The Triathlon event consists of a 750m swim in the river Suir, a single circuit 20km bike leg through the South Tipperary contryside, and a 5.8km run along the picturesque river Suir. The Try-athlon event is designed specifically for those who are new to the sport or are less competent swimmers, it consists of a shorter 500m swim and the same 20km bike and 5.8km run as the Triathlon. Prospective participants can register now online through the club website www.carricktriathlon.com where they can choose to register for either the Triathlon or Try-athlon events.
Carrick-on-Suir club member Catherine Brown made club history in 2009 as the first Carrick-on-Suir club female winner of the race when she took the first place in the category. When asked about the 2010 race she said “I was delighted that I was able to make club history in 2009 by winning the event in a very competitive field and this year I am looking forward to giving a little back to the sport by helping in the organisation of the race”
Carrick-On-Suir Triathlon Club is the largest and longest established Triathlon Club in the South East, providing coaching, training and support for members from Tipperary, Waterford, Kilkenny and Wexford. The aim of the club is to promote the sport of Triathlon and to encourage members to have fun whilst doing so. The Club is affiliated to Triathlon Ireland which is the national governing body for the sport in Ireland. The club caters for complete beginners to the sport to ‘Ironman’ competitors who train twice a day, six days a week. Anyone wishing to know more about Triathlon should visit the website at MailScanner has detected a possible fraud attempt from "www.tricarrick.com" claiming to be www.carric ktriathlon.com.

Hi there,
I'd like to tell you about a really worthy charity cycle from Dublin to Galway for Hospice Africa Ireland that is taking place on June 19th & 20th 2010. Following the success of our inaugural Dublin-Galway Cycle in October 2009, we’re planning on making this year’s cycle even more fun so please help us to spread the word about this challenging 2-day cycle from Dublin to Galway.
It’s a 2-day cycle, leaving Dublin on Saturday 19th June and staying overnight in Althlone. On Day 2 we depart Athlone and cycle to Galway, where we’ll celebrate completing this exciting challenge. Later on Sunday evening, you can decide to stay over with the group in Galway and make a night of it or we can organise to transport you back to Dublin that evening.
We would very much appreciate if you can put this email up in your triathlon club to advertise this great event. We are looking for participants of all levels for this cycle, anyone who would like to do something fun and worthwhile for a good cause. I have attached the Cycle brochure but can send you one in the post – just let me know.

Hospice Africa Ireland was set up in 1993 and it provides palliative care to over 3000 patients per year at 3 sites in Uganda: Kampala, Mbarara and Hoima. This is a really great cause, as it helping the terminally ill to live with dignity.
