Chi Running Workshop in Cahersiveen

Catherina McKiernan

Hello,

This workshop may be of interest to some of your members – can you please forward this email onto all members of your Triathlon Club. Thank you.

Catherina McKiernan, the ex-Irish runner and now a Master ChiRunning Instructor will be in Fitness Plus, Cahersiveen on Saturday the 24th July to do a ChiRunning workshop.

If you have never heard of ChiRunning you can give me a call (087-6873510) and I’ll explain or look up the website www.catherinamckiernan.com and if you think you are interested in doing the workshop can you please get back to me.  Places are limited so I will obviously take it on a first come, first served basis!!! It sounds really interesting and I’m sure we could all do with help to stay injury free.

Basically the one day workshop starts at 10am and finishs at 5.00pm and the cost is 110 euro per person(payable asap to secure your place). The day is all about learning to run to reduce impact on the body and make running less of an effort and eliminate injuries. It is suitable for everyone who wishes to run pain free, regardless of standard.

Catherina video-tapes everyone outside at the start to see their style of running. We will then go inside and go through the ChiRunning form focuses through a series of drills and exercises. We will go outside for an easy relaxed practice run where Catherina talks the group through one focus at a time. The run lasts 20 minutes. After lunch there is analysis of the video-tape. This is a great learning tool for people and she picks out what people may need to change to help make their running more efficient and prevent or clear up a particular injury.

There is a questions and answers session and she will show the group some body loosening exercises to do before running and stretches for after running and also talk about training, diet and recovery and wide range of running related questions. To finish off the day there is an easy run in a small area where everyone runs up and down at their own pace and Catherina will run along with each person at different stages.

It all sounds very informative. Please reply via email or telephone if you are interested.

Many thanks!

Elaine Clifford
